Always ready with a belly laugh and a story.
A bit of a tangent from the purpose of this blog, but...
His humorous yarns are full of self deprication, but that's what I love and admire about the man. The ability to laugh at one's self. He has done some outrageously funny stuff, and many of them are grounds for getting locked up or caned in most third world countries.

As artists we can be known for taken ones work or self way too seriously [as I raise a toast with my 'pinky finger' in the air]. With his humor, worldliness - and steely acumen/sageness [Susan now rolling her eyes, ha] he helps to put things into perspective the Wayne way. With a method all his own, he has a way of cutting through to wick of the issue. Especially when dealing with linear thinking people or situations.
I appreciate him in many ways, most of which for just being objective and non-judgmental.
He helps to keep me on track and focused with the methods of critique, and our collective work is better for it.

Jeez, can you make room for another web/GA? My job SUCKS and I work with a bunch of retards (sorry, I know I'm being judgmental but OMG you need to see it to believe it)... I swear, I'm updating my resume and I'm starting looking. Got a recruiter to email me a job yesterday that was very cool, paid $60/hr but I don't want to go to Charlotte for a 3 month contract...

I know your pain. We work with engineers and they are some of the most linear thinking people on the planet. Most think that they can do our job, because 'they are so intelligent'. We have retards of a different stripe. When it comes down to it, they just do not understand the processes for developing graphics.
When I studied at Pratt, computers were just getting into the classroom. Now with PC's being the norm and most 'puters are loaded with some sort of graphic programs, and the average 'armchair artist' does not need to go to artschool to 'create art'. "We can just use Visio or Powerpoint to make a full-size poster right??".
We have had to literally build our department from the ground up and lead them to the well. It took us almost 2 years and many 'bitch sessions', but now they are seeing the light. Our mantra was "If we build they will come".
The wall behind Wayne shows our collaborative work and we have high hopes for 2008. We are hoping to have 1-2 more people in the department to start seriously kickin' some @$$. Have your people talk to our people, ha...

Looks like we are all in the same boat then, I have to deal with managers who are just as brain dead and have no clue about what's going on. I swear, your stuff looks so cool, I'm willing to learn 3D... In the meantime, I spent my "day from home" work day updating my resume and I even sent an application to the city of ORF... I know I don't qualify but what the heck, it makes me feel better to at least TRY to get the hell out of this place... In 4 years, they've killed all creativity in me! I want to find that drive back, get up in the morning and be excited to go to work instead of dragging my ass to this stupid cubicle. BTW, the recruiter sent me a reply asking if I would consider a 6 month contract with option to perm... it's still Charlotte, NC and way to far from the ocean... lol

Fortunately we have an immediate supervisor whose wife is a GA... He knows our needs and our gripes and has been our champion. He knows we are passionate and that we BELIEVE in what we are doing.
-> That being said, it has been tough sometimes describing diamonds to peole who just think that their rocks... Get up with Wayne cuz I have connects in DC and Orlando. Orlando is 45 min from Cocoa Beach, and has great weather as well. The art department in Orlando is decent and the site is a GREAT place to work.

LOL thanks much for the support. I've been spoiled unfortunately and won't settle for any less than a beach area, south of Va Beach and on the East Coast. I grew up walking distance from the Atlantic. Cocoa Beach is nice (I've been to Orlando and Cocoa Beach before) but 45 minutes away from getting my feet in the sand? That's way too far already. I'll have to be patient and deal with crap until I can get what I want! Am I picky or what now... I can hear from here some FOJ complaining "jeez those French people are so demanding..." What can I say, I'm from a different planet alltogether!
