VCU-Contemporary Collage and Mixed Media

I just finished an enjoyable class through the VCU Evening Off Campus Graduate Program. It was held at the wonderful McGuffey Art Center just above the historic downtown ped mall. You have got to check them out! They are not open on Mondays but open through out the rest of the week. It is a cooperative of artists in an old historic elementary school that exhibit their work and have an open door studio policy so that you can watch them work. Each artist shares a classroom/studio with another artist of the same style. The artist have to work a certain amount of hours in their studio to maintain their membership. Famous artists like Judy McLeod and Jennifer Cox have been involved with the McGuffey and exhibit their work there and for sale also in the gallery. Anywho, I had a great experience and wanted to share a couple of my final pieces from the evening class. Some pieces I am still working on and I know the pics are not that great so please forgive!

Fantastic art, Nathan! Love those colors! Thanks for sharing the info about the McGuffey Art Center. I haven't seen my friend Jennifer Cox in a long time and am excited about checking this place out and seeing her art again. One of my favorite pieces of Jennifer's is a picture I have of a sleeping girl in black and white dreaming in color.

Great pieces; Actually the bottom one is HUGE, I've seen it in real, I wonder how you managed to transport everything to the last class without damaging any! How big are the other 2? They look awesome.

So awesome, Nate! I love this work, the outside of the frame thing is unique and terrific, there's something I want to say about it, just can't find the right words right now. Can't wait to see more.
